Kill Tony Glossary

The band
The live house band that plays performers on and off stage and backs the show's musical segments.
The Belly Room
A room inside The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. It was the show's home in its early years, before the move to Austin.
The bucket
The random draw that decides who performs. Comedians sign up in person before the show, their names go into the bucket, and Tony pulls names live.
Bucket pull
A comedian whose name was drawn from the bucket that night. They get one uninterrupted minute, then an interview with Tony and the panel.
Death Squad
The podcast network founded by Brian Redban that produces and distributes Kill Tony.
Golden ticket
An onstage award Tony gives a standout bucket pull. It invites the comedian back without going through the draw again. This archive records it from the winning episode onward.
Heidi
Part of the Kill Tony team. She comes out during the show to get the crowd going and bring drinks out to the panel.
The Ice House
A comedy club in Pasadena, in the Los Angeles area. Tony and Redban often invited comedians to perform on other shows there after their Kill Tony sets, including Death Squad shows.
Joke book
The prize Tony hands a bucket pull after their interview. It comes in small, medium and big, and the size depends on how well the minute and the interview went. Tony has been known to upgrade or downgrade one on the spot.
Mexican Drum Off
What happens when a bucket pull says they play drums. They go head to head with the house drummer and the crowd picks the winner. Joel Jimenez held the seat in the Los Angeles years and Michael Gonzalez has held it in Austin.
The Mothership
The Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas, Kill Tony's current home.
Panel guest
An invited guest who sits beside Tony and Redban and talks with performers after their minute. A panel guest is spoken to on the panel, not merely mentioned.
Redban
Brian Redban, the co-host and producer. He sits at the board beside Tony, runs the sound effects and keeps the show moving.
Regular
A comedian invited back to perform repeatedly as part of the show rather than through the bucket.
Secret Show
A Thursday night comedy show in Austin. Tony or Redban often offers a comedian a spot during the interview after their Kill Tony minute.
Special appearance
An invited one-off set that is not a bucket pull, golden ticket set or regular set.
Tony Hinchcliffe
The host and creator of Kill Tony. He hosts every episode, which is why he never shows up in this archive as a guest or a performer.
